Watertown Childrenβs Theatre features new works online
New works featured in virtual productions this fall from WCT

Watertown Childrenβs Theatre is focusing on new works this fall. With a brand new adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow just in time for its 200th anniversary year, and a festival of short plays bringing new voices to the WCT stage, we are excited about what we have to offer this fall, even if our performances will be viewed from your couch instead of the seats at the Mosesian Center for the Arts.
Students in grades 3-5 will be performing in Sleepy Hollow, a new adaptation of the Washington Irving classic, written by WCT staff member and local playwright Deidre Purcell. As modern day students explore what makes this scary story a memorable one, Irvingβs characters are brought to life in their imaginations and on the virtual stage. This online production screens on October 30 at 7 pm and October 31 at 11 am, with live Q & A with the director, playwright, and cast at each performance. Tickets are on sale now at www.mosesianarts.org.
Our Short Play Festival will feature performers in grades 6-12, working as a repertory ensemble in three plays: βOlympian Survivorβ by Tina McClure, βVirtualβ by Alison OβBrien, and βAn Odyssey Through the Girlsβ Rec Room at the Ogilby Judicial Center, Youth Divisionβ by Andrew Child. All three playwrights responded to a call for short plays over the summer, and WCT is thrilled to produce their work in this new virtual festival format. Exploring themes from Greek mythology to adolescent friendship to juvenile justice to reality television, this festival offers a variety of stories and characters that will light up the screen. Performances will be November 13 and 7 pm and November 14 at 2 pm and 7 pm, with the three plays rotating through the weekend. Performance details and ticketing information, as well as information about FREE public Q & A events with the playwrights and production team will be at www.mosesianarts.org.
