Parts Of Watertown's Main Street To Stay Closed Until Weekend

A ruptured oil line shut down a section of Main Street Monday night. Some areas won't reopen until the weekend.

WATERTOWN, MA – Some parts of Main Street in Watertown will reopen to traffic Tuesday, while others are expected to remain closed until the weekend, police said. The westbound side to Whites Avenue will open at 4 p.m. Eastbound lanes will remain closed at Waverley Avenue.

Portions of Main Street are expected to remain closed until Saturday. Drivers are still asked to avoid the area if possible.

Watertown Square closed Monday evening due to a ruptured oil line, according to police.

All MBTA buses running on Main Street have been diverted. The last pickup and drop off point in both directions to/from Waltham and Cambridge is Waverley Avenue and Main Street.

After that, commuters may take the bus at 3 Mount Auburn St. There is no bus access in between those locations.
