Bail Reduced For Wellesley Man Charged With Violating Export Laws

WELLESLEY, MA — A Wellesley man waiting for his trial to continue was granted a bail reduction by a federal judge on Thursday. His bail was reduced from $500,000 to $300,000 following coronavirus-related delays in the case and the man needing additional funds to support his family, according to Universal Hub.

Shuren Qin, a Chinese national living in Wellesley, was indicted in 2018 on charges violated export laws when he shipped submarine detecting equipment to a Chinese university affiliated with the People's Liberation Army.

Qin's bail is part of a $1.5 billion package that includes his home in Wellesley and two houses in New Hampshire.
