Dave Cavell Rolls Out Transportation and Housing Policies

Dave Cavell, Congressional candidate in MA-04, rolled out two comprehensive new plans for transportation and housing.

BROOKLINE – Today the Cavell for Congress campaign announced the release of two new policies, transportation and housing. These policies expand upon Dave’s climate change plan which calls for intersectional policy to imagine a sustainable, livable future for the Fourth District.

"Imagine being able to zip up and down 95, 495, or 24 in an electric car, with smart tolling to control traffic, and not being stuck on a highway everyday in bumper-to-bumper traffic," said Dave Cavell. "Imagine being able to catch an electric bus, with a dedicated travel lane, for a quick trip from Taunton to Fall River, or Milford to Franklin. And imagine being able to walk onboard an electrified commuter rail at a Fall River or Taunton station, from which you can quickly and reliably travel north to Boston, or south to Providence.

"I want to make this dream a reality."

Dave’s Transportation Plan includes:

  1. Reducing traffic and car emissions for a green future
  2. Supporting quality, affordable, and clean public transportation
  3. Building equitable and resilient transportation for the 21st century

Dave also recognizes housing is a key part of ending poverty and growing the middle class. This is even more true today, as families face housing insecurity related to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Creating a greener and fairer future for all means building sustainable, equitable, and affordable housing for everyone," Dave Cavell. "In Congress, I will fight every day to make sure that happens."

Dave’s Future of Housing plan includes:

  1. Increasing government investments in affordable housing
  2. Protecting homeowners and renters during the COVID-19 pandemic
  3. Ending discriminatory housing practices against people of color and LGBTQ people
  4. Restoring an estate tax to tax the ultra-rich
  5. Creating carbon neutral and climate resilient housing for the 21st century

“The need for comprehensive, intersectional housing and transportation policy has only become more clear during this pandemic,” said Dave Cavell. “When we have a lack of housing and transportation, we are leaving low income populations and people of color vulnerable. It’s time every single person in the 4th District had access to quality, affordable housing and green transportation.”

Dave is looking forward to discussing these policies on the Wellesley and Needham Democratic Town Committee Candidate Forum tonight at 7pm.
