Drunken Driver Splits Utility Pole In Wellesley: PD
The driver walked away from the crashed car and into his home nearby.
WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley police dealt with two drunken driving incidents last week and one of them left a utility pole split in two. In both cases, the drivers involved didn't pass field sobriety tests and were arrested.
The first incident happened on Feb. 17 when police were called to a crash at the intersection of Pembroke Road and Cornell Road. Police found a car crashed into a utility pole and the pole split in two, with wires scattered along the street. The car was empty and police later found the driver in his home down the street, according to the arrest report.
The man, identified as Robert Nicoletta, smelled of alcohol and could not pass the field sobriety tests, according to the arrest report. He was arrested and charged with OUI, leaving the scene of property damage and speeding among other things.

The second incident happened on Feb. 22 when an officer was on patrol on Barton Road near Cedar Street. The officer saw a car drift in and out of lanes of oncoming traffic. When the officer stopped the car, the driver had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to the arrest report.
The woman was identified as Lorraine Wright and could not pass a series of field sobriety tests. She was arrested and charged with OUI, among other things.
