Always resilient - Elizabeth Seton Residence launches a virtual 40th Anniversary celebration

2020 was to be a very exciting year for the Elizabeth Seton Residence of Wellesley Hills. They had big plans to celebrate their 40th Anniversary of providing caring service to seniors from all walks of life. But, as a result of this global pandemic, those plans had to be shelved.
However, as a result of the creativity, dedication and resilience of residents, staff and families alike, the Elizabeth Seton Residence has adapted and is celebrating this milestone virtually. The annual Meet the Need in-person dinner has been replaced with a Meet the Need Online Auction. The usual dinner program evolved into the in-house production of a moving video tribute with the Bill Withers song “Lean on Me”, performed and filmed by staff members, setting the tone.
“This video provides a glimpse into the Elizabeth Seton Residence pandemic bubble. Despite the challenges and heartbreak COVID has thrust on our community, our staff came together to plan, film, and produce this tribute that highlights the loving, compassionate spirit of charity on which the Elizabeth Seton Residence was founded,” according to Lori Ferrante, Administrator of the Elizabeth Seton Residence. She adds, “Instead of the excitement around our 40th anniversary, we have encountered the greatest challenge our skilled nursing facility has ever faced. But in honor of all those who make the Elizabeth Seton Residence the very special place it is, members of our staff came together to produce and perform a video tribute featuring our resilient staff and residents.”

A special “thank you” recognizing the many individuals and community organizations who provided critical supplies, meals for the staff, and other offerings of support runs at the end of the tribute. Adds Ferrante, “As a result of the pandemic, our need for continued financial support from our community is greater than ever. We are very grateful to the many people who provided support during the last seven months, but the need continues. We hope that our online auction provides the community with the ability to continue that support and celebrate our 40th Anniversary”.
