The Gardens At Elm Bank To Host Shakespeare on the Lawn
The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's Apprentice Program Performance of Henry VI, Part 2, will take place on August 1st.

WELLESLEY, MA - From Massachusetts Horticultural Society: Massachusetts Horticultural Society will host the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s Apprentice Program Performance of Henry VI, Part 2, directed by Bryn Boice, at The Gardens at Elm Bank on Wednesday, August 1. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.; set up your chairs, blankets and picnic for a 6 p.m. production in the Maple grove. Beer, wine and other beverages will be sold, but please bring your own picnic and enjoy Shakespeare on a summer evening in the gardens. Free to all!
Since 2013, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company has been the theater in residence at Babson College in
Wellesley, MA with rehearsals and classes taking place at the beautiful Sorenson Center for the Arts.The
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s Apprentice Program is an intensive summer training program for pre professional actors who are actively pursuing a career in theatre. The Apprentice Program culminates with 2 showcase performances offering audiences a chance to celebrate the work of the summer Academy students and to see more Shakespeare. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to artistic excellence, accessibility, and education. Now entering its 24th season, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s free Shakespeare on the Common has become an annual Boston tradition.
Part II of Henry VI brings the battle for the crown as the Lancasters take power when King Henry VI marries the French princess Margaret to the dismay of the Duke of Gloucester. As tensions rise between York and
Lancaster it is unclear who has the right to the throne. With the Duke of York gaining support who will

The Gardens at Elm Bank are a wonderful natural resource for people of all ages to enjoy, whether you are
interested in plants or gardening or just relaxing in the beautiful landscape. Located at 900 Washington Street in Wellesley (Route 16), on the 36-acre Cheney estate in the Elm Bank Reservation, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The estate includes twelve display gardens, some highlights include the Italianate Garden designed by the Olmsted Brothers.

All summer, families can enjoy the gardens and programs Friday to Sunday, free with membership or daily
admission. Youth and Family Programs are held on Friday-Sunday, at 11:00am, and meet in Weezie’s Garden
for Children.
The Gardens at Elm Bank are open from May 1 through Columbus Day, Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Admission is free for Mass Hort Members, for Visitors: Adults: $10, Children under 12 free with adult. The
entrance is located at 900 Washington Street (Route 16), Wellesley, MA.
