Horticultural Society to Host School Gardens Conference

The conference will cover how to create and maintain a successful school garden.

WALTHAM, MA - The Massachusetts Horticultural Society will host a school gardens conference next month.

The conference is happening February 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Gardens at Elm Bank located at 900 Washington St.

The conference is geared towards school teachers, administrators, students, garden club mentors, librarians, parents, preservationists and civic organization that want to help create a long-lasting school garden.

The day will be filled with workshops covering the best practices for maintaining a successful school garden, guest speakers and lunch from Chipotle.

“Together, with your help, we hope to cultivate garden spaces that will enrich every community’s understanding and stewardship of its horticultural inheritance,” the Massachusetts Horticultural Society wrote in the event announcement.

The event costs $40 for members of the society and co-sponsoring organizations, $50 for non-members and $25 for students. Space is limited.

Co-sponsors of the event include: Massachusetts Master Gardeners, SHED Children’s Campus, Slow Food Boston, and Slow Food USA, and WGBH.
