Legendary Journalist, Wellesley College Alum Cokie Roberts Dies
Cokie Roberts graduated from Wellesley College in 1964 and went on to become an award-winning journalist and bestselling author.

WELLESLEY, MA — Cokie Roberts, an award-winning journalist, political commentator and graduate of Wellesley College, died after complications with breast cancer Tuesday, according to ABC News. Roberts, 75, graduated in 1964 with a degree in political science before beginning what would become a 40-plus-year journalism career filled with awards, including three Emmys.
Roberts, born Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Boggs, spent her career working in both television and radio. She began her career in radio as foreign correspondent for CBS in the '70s before joining NPR to cover politics in Washington D.C.
In 1988, Roberts joined ABC News. She co-anchored "This Week" with San Donaldson from 1996 to 2002. Roberts spent three decades at the network and served as political commentator and chief congressional analyst for "The Week." Roberts also wrote eight books, and many of them became New York Times bestsellers.

"Cokie Roberts will be dearly missed," James Goldston, president of ABC News said in a statement. "Cokie's kindness, generosity, sharp intellect and thoughtful take on the big issues of the day made ABC a better place and all of us better journalists."
Roberts is survived by her husband Steve Roberts, her children Rebecca Roberts and Lee Roberts, and her six grandchildren, according to ABC.
