Young Boy Reportedly Dies at Hospital After Drowning Incident

The 10-year old was seen just before 6 p.m., according to reports.

Update: 11:00pm: The child has reportedly died at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Police issued the following statement:

Morses Pond will be closed all day on Sunday June 2, 2013. No access to the beach will be possible or allowed.

Update 7:25pm: Child is described as "drowning victim," en route to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. 

Update 7:20pm: Boy is on the beach out of the water, though his medical status is unclear.

Original Story: First responders are searching for a missing 10-year-old boy last seen near Morses Pond just before 6 p.m. Saturday, Wellesley Police have confirmed. 

"The Wellesley Police Department is searching Morses Pond Beach for a missing ten year old child named Alex," they wrote in a statement.

"He is described as a white male four feet tall with sandy blonde hair and a blue bathing suit. He was last seen on the beach. An extensive search with the fire department is underway.

"An update will be sent when more information is known."

Rescuers are searching both land and sea for Alex, with K-9 and dive team units responding to Morses Pond Beach.
