9:26 a.m. - Sergeant Gallagher responded to Cedar Street for a report of a vehicle window that was damaged by a rock that was thrown when a Town of Wellesley Park and Tree employee was weed whacking in the area. Sgt. Gallagher provided the owner of the vehicle with the incident number and advised her to contact her insurance company regarding the damage to the vehicle.
5:50 p.m. - Officer Dixon was checking parking lots along Worcester Street looking for a motor vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident when he observed an SUV approaching his location westbound on Worcester Street at a slow rate of speed. He also noticed that the operator had both hands off of the steering wheel and was holding a cell phone up in front of her face. As the vehicle drove past his location he noticed that it appeared that the driver was typing on the phone while driving. He entered traffic on Worcester Street and activated his police cruiser’s emergency blue lights to signal for the operator to stop. The vehicle would not stop and attempted to evade Officer Dixon and while doing so the operator committed several moving violations. Officer Dixon eventually stopped the vehicle as it was driving eastbound on Worcester just after Dearborn. Officer Dixon approached the operator, identified as 48-year-old Celeste Hedequist of Wellesley, and advised her she was under arrest. She was uncooperative, combative and actively resisting him. Eventually, Hedequist was placed in handcuffs and charged with sending or reading electronic messages (second offense), resisting arrest, speeding, failure to stop for a police officer, disorderly conduct, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a stop sign violation. She was transported to the police station where she was booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on personal recognizance.
