Town Meeting Proposal Could Change Wellesley Restaurant Scene
The article proposes the elimination of the 50 seat minimum for Wellesley restaurants to obtain a liquor license.
WELLESLEY, MA — A spec of hope for smaller Wellesley restaurants is shining through the Town Meeting warrant. One of the articles proposes the elimination of the 50 seat minimum for Wellesley restaurants to obtain a liquor license.
The article was approved to be on the warrant by the Board of Selectmen on Feb. 10. If it's approved by Town Meeting in April, it still has to gain approval from state legislators and then voters in town.
The move could allow smaller bistros and restaurants to serve alcohol, expanding their menu and customer base and making Wellesley a more attractive option for opening a restaurant.
