Wellesley Great Plain Avenue Rotary Work To Last 6 Months

The work will realign the Great Plain Avenue rotary, Wellesley Avenue and Seaver Street.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley started the six-month-long work on Great Plain Avenue rotary. The work will realign the Great Plain Avenue rotary, Wellesley Avenue and Seaver Street.

Wellesley's Department of Public Works is managing the job being done by J.H. Lynch & Sons, Inc. and their subcontractors.

Commuters should expect detours in the area and plan alternate routes for the time being. Construction take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Police details will be onsite during the project to minimize impacts to traffic. Two-lane traffic will be maintained throughout most of the project, although there may be some lane shifts to give the contractor room to work.

Work on the roadway also includes the Rice Street to Brook Street intersections and Brook Street to the Fuller Brook Road intersections. The project is expected to be completed in January 2021.

  • Granite curbing to be installed, along with hot mix asphalt sidewalks, cement concrete wheelchair ramps to meet current ADA standards, crosswalks and new signage;
  • Modifications are planned to the roadway drainage system;
  • Roadways will be milled and paved, with new pavement markings, bicycle lanes, and street lights within the rotary area;
  • A new sidewalk will be installed along Great Plain Avenue and Brook Street.
