Wellesley High Reports 13 Positive Virus Cases In 11 Days
Officials said the majority of the cases have been from staff but there is strong evidence of in-school transmission.
WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley High School reported 13 positive COVID-19 cases in 11 days. The school first announced the surge in positive cases at the beginning of the month.
Wellesley High School has reported a total of 21 positive COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the year.
In a joint letter between Wellesley Superintendent of Schools David Lussier and Wellesley Health Department Director Leonard Izzo, officials said the majority of the cases have been from staff but there is strong evidence of in-school transmission. Cases have not impacted any other schools, officials said.

"We recognize that this news is disconcerting given the many safety layers that were already in place at WHS and across all schools. We will continue to do everything we can to support the safe, continued operations of the Wellesley Public Schools moving forward," the letter reads.
The district issued a statement to the community on Nov. 11 detailing the plan to switch high school students to remote learning and bring students back to in-person learning on Dec. 1. Wellesley Middle School and all elementary schools will continue to follow the hybrid learning model.
Town officials reported evidence of community spread and are urging everyone to continue to do their part and follow all current guidelines. As of Friday, Wellesley had a total of 337 COVID-19 cases.
