Wellesley Husband And Wife Alert Neighbor To Garage Fire

WELLESLEY, MA — A Wellesley couple was praised by police and fire crews for their hand in stopping a garage fire in their neighbors home.

The fire started in a garage on Leighton Road. The wife noticed her neighbor's garage was burning and told her husband. While her husband ran over to wake the neighbors, the woman called 9-1-1, according to police.

The husband was able to wake the neighbor in time and help him put out the flames before it spread throughout the home. Police said it appears the fire was caused by discarded rags from a painting project.
