Wellesley Named Third Smartest Town in United States
Do you think there are smarter towns in Massachusetts?

Would you believe that Wellesley is one of the smartest towns in America? Well, Nerdwallet thinks so.
Nerdwallet, a website that claims to help consumers save money and make smarter decisions about their personal finances, travel plans, or higher education, posted an article yesterday outlining the top ten smartest towns in the United States and Wellesley came in third.
Also in the top ten were Brookline, Needham and Newton Massachusetts.

According to Nerdwallet's results, 80 percent of Wellesley's residents who are at least 25 have earned a bachelor's degree or higher, and only 2.2 percent did not finish high school.
"Opportunities for higher education work are not the only draw for Wellesley. Finance, healthcare and biotechnology companies like Sun Life Financial, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Biogen Idec also help Wellesley maintain a well-educated and diverse work population," the website says.

Wellesley was beat out by Palo Alto California with a 14.5 percent rate of people with doctoral degrees and Bethesda Maryland who took home the top spot with only 1.9 percent of it's population not having earned a high school diploma.
