WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley police are warning residents to be cautious with their cars and keep them locked after parking. Neighboring towns including Weston and Newton have reported recent car break-ins near dog parks and walking trails.
Wellesley police did not say if any incidents happened in town.
During the neighboring incidents, valuable items were stolen. Wellesley police are using the incidents as cautionary tales to remind residents to keep their car doors locked and bring valuables with them, even if they're popping in and out of the car quickly.

"It takes less than a minute for a thief to smash out a car window and take a wallet or purse, and be gone," police said.
