Wellesley Public Schools Call Early Dismissal Due to Snowstorm

The third storm in eight days could dump anywhere from 3-8 inches on Massachusetts.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley Public Schools called an early dismissal on Tuesday ahead of the incoming snowstorm.

All Wellesley students will be sent home before noon due to the incoming snowstorm, officials are bracing for the third storm in eight days. The district canceled all afternoon and evening activities, including athletics. Grab-and-go lunches will be available for students as they are dismissed.

The district added that with the early dismissal, all viral testing samples being returned today must be dropped off to school by 11:30 a.m.

Here is the early dismissal schedule:

  • PAWS will dismiss at 11:40 a.m. There will be no afternoon Pre-K program today.
  • Elementary schools will begin dismissal at 12:00 p.m.
  • Wellesley Middle School will begin dismissal at 11:15 a.m.
  • Wellesley High School will begin dismissal at 11:15 a.m.

Snowfall is expected to begin between 10 a.m.-noon in eastern Massachusetts. It's expected to continue for about 12 hours, with the heaviest of it coming between 2 p.m.-7 p.m. The incoming snow will only pad existing snow piles from a storm over the weekend and another the previous Monday.

This won't be the last of the snow. More storms are possible at the end of this week and Sunday.
