1 Dead, Multiple Firefighters Injured In Pepperell Fire
A woman was killed in a four-alarm fire at an apartment building Tuesday, authorities said.

PEPPERELL, MA — A fire at an apartment complex in Pepperell killed one woman and injured four firefighters, authorities said. An off-duty firefighter spotted the fire at 50 Main St. around 8:35 a.m., and it soon escalated to four alarms.
Fourteen departments responded to the fire, according to the Pepperell Fire Department. A woman was found dead on the first floor of the six-unit building, and the other residents were displaced by the fire, authorities said.
Five people – a resident and four firefighters – were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

"This was a very involved fire that required significant manpower to bring under control," Chief Brian Borneman said. "I’m grateful for the work of all our partner agencies who supported the response effort, as well as the State Fire Marshal’s Office and District Attorney’s Office for their leadership in investigating."
Fire crews from Tyngsborough, Devens, Shirley, Ashby, Townsend, Groton, Ayer, Dunstable, Westford, Littleton and Lunenburg, as well as Nashua, Brookline and Hollis in New Hampshire, responded to the scene.
