Aamir Chaudhry, owner of the European Wax Center located in the Cornerstone Square shopping center, tells the Patch about the advantages of using a trained professional service as opposed to a home waxing kit and about the best business advice he ever received.

Aamir: European Wax Center was founded in Miami and for the better part of a decade has grown to over 700 centers across the US. We opened in Westford’s Cornerstone Square in June of 2015 and we continue to see a lot of excitement about the brand and what we offer.

Aamir: European Wax Center is a great brand. I truly believe we have a product and a service model that stands out from the crowded beauty industry. Most people don’t want to spend hours at a spa. People are busier than ever with their family and careers and want a great experience without blocking off half the day. Patch: What are some of the common misconceptions about hair removal?

Aamir: Most people don’t realize that waxing not only removes unwanted hair, but it reveals smoother skin .Waxing exfoliates by removing dry, dead skin cells, eliminates razor burn and bumps, thins the hair, and makes hair softer over time. When people see this thinner (and less) hair growing back, that is when our guests get hooked. The other misconception is that waxing is only for women. We are getting a lot of men who are turning to waxing and loving it.

Aamir: There is no comparison. Per state law, our estheticians have to complete schooling and obtain a license to perform these services. Because of that, our estheticians are highly trained professionals who know what they are doing in terms of cleanliness and technique. I compare it to other services, like a haircut. You could cut your own hair or have your friend cut it for you, but do you? Sit back and let a professional take care of your skin in the same way.

Aamir: Hire great people and everything will fall into place. Everything we do is built around providing great service and experiences for people. If you can build a team that puts that first, that is the foundation everything else can be built on.

Aamir: I always thought Westford would be a great place for a European Wax Center. It not only has a great residential community with highly ranked schools, but also a well-educated population with tons of great tech companies. The Cornerstone Square shopping center is new, clean and also perfectly located seconds from 495 and minutes from Route 3 and is a destination plaza. There are also very active chambers of commerce, business associations and a rotary club that small business owners can join to be a part of and give back to the community.
