Graniteville Woods kids collect Candy for our Troops
Written by Shreya Goyal (6th Grade)

The kids of Graniteville Woods (GVW) community were buzzing with excitement on the night of Halloween. They turned this fun tradition into a good deed. Many kids in GVW donated their Halloween candy.
Four highschoolers Sonia Khamitkar, Meghana Edpugunti, Aashi Akare, and Shraddha Kollipara gathered and collected candy from various families in the community. The candy will be donated to the National Guard in collaboration with Radhika Goli, an organizer of the Operation Care program.
Donated candy and care packages will go to American troops in Afghanistan.

As a community, many people have chipped in, and Graniteville Woods has collected a total of about 112 pounds of candy. In previous years, Graniteville Woods has donated around 35-80 pounds of candy every year to various organizations.
This candy is a small gift of appreciation to show our troops that we care; it is a small gift for those brave soldiers, a small moment of joy away from the ongoing war they have to face. These soldiers work tirelessly to defend our country. Hopefully our small gift will bring a smile to their faces and have big impact to their day. Thank you again, dear soldiers, for your sacrifices - you sustain our freedoms and our way of life - We are so grateful! Go USA!
