FREE classes for Retirees

The Learning in Retirement Association (LIRA) at UMass Lowell offers free Summer Intersession classes to retirees. These 2 hour classes are a sampling of what is available to members during their regular semesters. See what LIRA could provide you. Summer Intersession Classes/trips include:

1. A City of Cotton and Opposition to Slavery - Robert Forrant, Ph.D., Lowell, it's mills and abolitionists

2. “The Adventures and Misadventures of a Writer in Search of Her Audience" - Sharon Healy-Yang, Ph.D.

3. Trip to Hammond Castle, Gloucester, Mass.

4. Book Discussions - Educated: A Memoir, non-fiction by Tara Westover - and H is for Hawk, a memoir by Helen MacDonald

5. New Directions/New Authors in Mystery and Detective Fiction - Melissa Pennell, Ph.D.

6. The Sputnik Years - J. Kelly Beatty, The Space Age — and the Space Race

7. Understanding Artificial Intelligence - Peter Sebelius & Bob Hanlon, How is AI changing our world.

8. Trip to Gropius House, Lincoln, Mass.
