Jim Geraghty to Chair Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps’

Embracing the Legacy Gala

WESTFORD, Mass. — Westford resident Jim Geraghty, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps, will serve as an event chair for Embracing the Legacy, the organization’s premier annual gala that raises funds to support its work.

RFK Children’s Action Corps, which is celebrating its 50th year of service, is a national leader in developing and implementing successful models of child welfare, social service and juvenile justice programs. It was founded in memory of the late Senator to carry out his principles of social justice for poor and disadvantaged children.

Geraghty has been recognized nationally for his work with RFK Children’s Action Corps. He was named one of the national finalists for the 2017 Community Service Award by Invest in Others. In 2015, the Director of the FBI presented Geraghty with the Director’s Community Service Leadership Award and Geraghty was one of 12 Boston business leaders named as a “Diversity Game Changer: White Men Who Can Jump.” Geraghty has been a steadfast supporter of the agency for over five years and was selected for these honors based on his strong commitment to improving the lives of children and families across the Commonwealth.

Geraghty is a Managing Director for Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. For more than 30 years, Geraghty has served as a private wealth advisor exclusively for high net worth clients. He is a member of the Morgan Stanley Chairman’s Club and has been recognized as one of America’s Top Advisors by Barron’s (2008-2017) and Forbes inaugural list of America’s Top Wealth Advisors. Additionally, Geraghty was recognized as one of the Top 10 Advisors in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal (2008).He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Gordon B. Seavey Distinguished Citizen Award for his years of service to Westford Public Schools.

Set for May 10, the agency’s annual Embracing the Legacy gala celebrates the legacy of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the work of the organization founded to carry out his principles of social justice for the poor and disadvantaged. Geraghty is joined by two other event chairs and board members, John Boyle III, of Wayland, Mass. and Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III.

During the event, Congressman Kennedy will reflect on his late grandfather’s legacy and the lasting contributions he made toward protecting society’s most vulnerable children and families. The event will include a cocktail reception, seated dinner and program, including the presentation of the Embracing the Legacy Award to the following honorees:

Robert A. Scannell, Jr., President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club Dorchester; Mary Kinsella Scannell, Vice President of the Boys & Girls Club Dorchester; Darrell Crate, Founder and Managing Principal, Easterly Capital; Robert Lewis, Jr., Founder and President, The BASE; and Paul Lewis, Director of Training, North American Family (posthumous).

Susan Wornick, former anchor of WCVB-TV’s midday newscast and a longtime supporter, volunteer and member of RFK Children’s Action Corps’ Advisory Council, will emcee the 400-person event.

The event will be held at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston. Through the event, RFK Children’s Action Corps raises money to support at-risk children, families, and communities throughout Massachusetts, giving them a second chance for a better life.

Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps operates a number of programs and services for at-risk children and families, including community-based initiatives, residential treatment and juvenile justice programs, and partners with national organizations and state agencies to use proven methods and develop new ways to advance practices in the care of those most vulnerable, providing the tools and skills they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
