Shotgun Deer Season Underway In Westford

WESTFORD, MA — Shotgun deer hunting season is underway in Massachusetts. The season begins Monday and continues through Dec. 12.

"If you find yourself enjoying the outdoors this time of year please keep this in mind and take appropriate precautions," Westford police said in a social media post.

The primitive firearms season will begin on Dec. 14 and run through the end of the year.

Hunting hours are from a half hour before sunrise until a half hour after sunset. Hunting is prohibited on Sundays. Hunters must be 500 feet from a residents, 150 feet from a roadway and must wear at least 500 square inches of "hunter orange" on the chest, back and head.
Hikers are urged to use caution in wooded areas or trails during hunting season and "consider wearing orange."
