Suspect In Violent Townsend Kidnapping Arrested In Miami
Kevin Hamel is the subject of eight restraining orders and is accused of holding a woman against her will and assaulting her last March.

TOWNSEND, MA – A man wanted in connection with a violent kidnapping and assault last March was arrested in Miami, state police said. Kevin Hamel, 50, faces charges of kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery and vandalism.
The charges stem from an attack in Townsend on March 30, 2018, according to state police. A woman told police she was fleeing from an assault where she had been held against her will.
Hamel is accused of violently assaulting the woman, causing numerous injuries, state police said. He was added to the Massachusetts Most Wanted list in August after police were unable to find him.

Hamel has an extensive criminal history that includes firearm and kidnapping convictions, as well as restraining order violations, according to police. He was also wanted for a probation violation.
State police tracked Hamel to Miami, and he was arrested Friday morning.
