Westford Mourns Rajiv Paluri, 13, Killed in Skiing Accident
The Blanchard Middle School student died Saturday after crashing into a tree at Nashoba Valley Ski Area, authorities said.

The Westford community is mourning Rajiv Paluri, the 13-year-old boy killed in a skiing accident at Nashoba Valley Ski Area Saturday.
Officials said Paluri, an eighth-grader at Blanchard Middle School, died after crashing into a tree on one of the ski area’s more difficult trails. He was wearing a helmet.

Al Fletcher, the Nashoba Valley’’s general manager, told CBS Boston it was the first skiing-related death at the ski area, which first opened in 1964.

Grief counselors were at Blanchard Tuesday. A mass celebrating Paluri’s life was held earlier in the morning at St. Catherine’s Church. Funeral details have not yet been published. Westford Patch will post those when they are available.
“Join me in keeping Rajiv and his family in our thoughts and hearts,” Blanchard Principal Robin Whitney said in a statement.
The school has canceled several school activities this week.
