Kids & Family
Two Westford teams make it to Destination Imagination Globals!
Thinking is contagious! Learning is addictive! Prepare the kids for a life-altering experience!

The journey of Destination Imagination (DI) for the team members is to get ready to step out of their comfort zones, learn from failure, and enjoy fits of laughter and brilliance as learning and growth occur. The team members will have an opportunity to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. This creative process is a circular path that loops from Imagine - Recognize – Assess- Initiate& Collaborate -Evaluate & Celebrate.
2-7 members can form a team with 1or 2 team managers and register the team to participate in DI. There are 6 Challenge areas in DI competing at Elementary Level, Middle Level, High School Level & University Level too.
6 Challenges:
- Scientific
- Technical
- Engineering
- Improvisational
- Fine Arts
- Service Learning
- Rising Stars (Non Competing K-2nd grade)
The Two teams going to Globals from our Westford Day School have competed in Improvisational Challenge at EL.
Improvisational Challenge is something different from other challenges as every element is given on the spot and the team will be given 2 minutes to prepare the skit with the elements given and perform the skit in next 5 minutes.
This year the Improvisational topic is to research on Figure Heads on the coins around the world .The team has to select 6 Figure Heads.
At the time of the performance, a tale is randomly given and two figure heads, a flip (which cannot be opened until you start the skit). The team has to perform in two genre (comedy and tragedy) and both verbal and non -verbal communication. Once the flip is picked the team needs to switch from verbal to non -verbal and also needs to switch between genres .
There is also another part of the DI ,The Instant Challenge competition i a chance for the team to show off its creative problem solving skills as they demonstrate their teamwork and ability to "think on their feet."
Both the teams worked hard and competed each other, tied at Regionals and also at States level moving to Globals .
