Westford Water Restrictions in Effect
Water restrictions are at Stage I and will become mandatory if upgraded.

WESTFORD, MA — The town is asking residents to curb outdoor water use beginning May 1 in an effort to keep up with consumer demand. The restrictions are stage 1, and will only become mandatory when they get upgraded.
Those who live at a home with odd-numbered address should only water plants or use water outdoors on odd-numbered days; even-numbered addresses water on even-numbered days, according to the restriction.
The town is also asking that you use water outside to water plants, wash your car etc, only between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. when evapotranspiration is at the lowest level makes watering more effective, reduces waste and conserves water.

Each year the town restricts water usage from May to October.
The State also imposes restrictions on how much water the Water Department can pump on a daily basis. Surrounding towns, which draw water from the same aquifer also experience increased usage during the May through October time period.

The restrictions are an effort to ensure there is enough water for homes, businesses, and fire protection.
"Without these restrictions, demand would most likely deplete water supplies to a dangerously low level, and the Water Department would be forced to impose a ban on all outdoor water usage," according to the town.
Any increase to mandatory restrictions will be communicated by signage, on the Town and Water Department websites, and using the electronic notification system.
The town office is closed to the public amid the coronavirus pandemic, but you can find out more on Water Department Services website for information on services and operations.
