Westford's Joseph Arruda, DOD Worker, Korean War Vet, Dies at 80
He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Joseph Anthony Arruda, 80, of Westford, MA formerly of Fall River, MA died early Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his home after a long illness.
He was married to Mrs. Delores (Cabral) with whom he would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2014.

Joseph was the son of the late Joaquim and Mary Arruda. He was a graduate of Rogers High School of Portsmouth, RI with the class of 1952.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He retired from the Department of Defense in 1998 after 42 years of service.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus. He loved to woodworking and gardening.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark A. Arruda of Charlotte, NC and Wayne J. Arruda of Dracut, MA, a grand-daughter, Catherine Arruda of Stokesdale, NC, and his caregiver, Rita Cooper and her husband Kevin Crawford of Salem, NH
He was the brother of the late Edmond, Angelina, Mary and Josephine Arruda.
A private service was held at the convenience of the family. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
