Will Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Make it Into Westford?

WESTFORD, MA -Two medical marijuana dispensaries have had their eyes on locations in Westford but Selectmen were hesitant to award letters of non-opposition, the Lowell Sun reported.

Seven Point of Massachusetts, Inc. and Nature’s Remedy are both seeking approval to open medical marijuana dispensaries in town. The two companies asked letters of non-opposition to start the process of opening up facilities in Westford.

Selectmen brought up issues of security measures for the companies and a potential negative side effect on residents at a Tuesday meeting, the Lowell Sun reported.

Seven Points CEO Brad Zerman said the company would set up video surveillance that would not capture customers of neighboring businesses, the Lowell Sun reported. Nature's Remedy representing attorney Valerio Romano said "banks are far more likely to get robbed than dispensaries and studies have shown teen drug use does not increase if marijuana dispensaries move into town, the Lowell Sun reported.

The board ultimately decided to continue the discussion at a future meeting, the Lowell Sun reported.
