Sept. 27, 10:28 a.m. – A woman on Church Street called police after reporting telephone harassment, who said that a person called her home and did not talk, but rather breathed heavily on the other end.

The officer dispatched on the call investigated the caller ID, seeing it was from a business in Lowell just before the phone rang again.

At this point, the woman picked up and said hello several times before handing the phone to the officer, who told the salesperson that the woman was not interested in her product, concluding the call.

While waiting for police, the employee checked and believed nothing had been stolen.

The damage to the glass door was not significant enough for anyone to enter through the door, although glass shards were located near the back of the store.

According to the employee, the business had not recently received any threats, and she had not seen any suspicious individuals or anyone who might have a grudge recently.

Oct. 11, 6:45 a.m. – Parts were strewn across Plain Road after a motorist was injured in a serious accident.

The vehicle had careened across the middle of the road into a tree, with fresh blood found in the vehicle and severe damage to the front and rear passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Airbags had been deployed and a handprint of blood was found on the driver’s side door, with the road near the car covered in dirt and tree branches from the crash.

The officer on the call talked to a man standing near the crash, who said he was the father of the driver. When asked why he did not immediately call 911, the father said he was sleeping and suddenly heard the loud noise, running outside to see if he could help.

He realized the injured driver was his son and took him to his porch, then going inside the house to find towels to clean his wounds just before waking his wife. Shortly after, the wife took the son to the hospital and a neighbor then called 911.

The son was later found by the officer at a nearby hospital, with the son saying he had been in Lowell the night before at a girl’s apartment.

He went on to say he had ingested alcoholic drinks, but was not intoxicated. However, the son was sleepy and did not remember the moment of the accident.

At this point, the son asked if he could end the questioning due to his injuries, with the officer complying but saying he would return later.

Eventually, the son was given an unspecified citation for his role in the crash.
