CSW Students Take Home 59 Regional Scholastic Awards

27 students have been honored with 59 art and writing awards out of close to 350,000 submissions from across the country.

Weston, Mass. - (February 28, 2019) - The Cambridge School of Weston (CSW), a progressive, coeducational, day and boarding school for grades 9–12, recently announced that 27 students have been honored with 59 art and writing awards out of close to 350,000 submissions from across the country. According to Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, judges β€œlook for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.”

Art and writing are an integral part of the CSW academic curriculum. β€œAt CSW, creative thinking and the willingness to take risks are essential to our program. As educators, we are deeply committed to helping students refine and express their distinctive voices and vision through a wide variety of media. We are so proud of this year’s recipients, who have worked incredibly hard on their chosen pieces,” said Head of School Jane Moulding.

For nearly 100 years, the Scholastic Awards, which are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, β€œhave recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become a part of our communityβ€”young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors, video game artists and science fiction writersβ€”along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process,” according to the organization's website.
