Land’s Sake Annual Meeting

Land's Sake Annual Meeting with presentation on Landscaping for Diversity and Climate Resilience

Would you like to have a beautiful yard that is sustainable and gentle on the environment? Please join us for Land’s Sake’s annual meeting on April 4 at the Weston Scout House (86 School St, Weston, MA), from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Founded in 1980 in Weston, Land’s Sake is a nonprofit dedicated to connecting people to the land through farming, environmental education, food donation, and land management. The annual meeting is open to the public.

At the meeting, we will welcome Tia Pinney, from Mass Audubon’s Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, who will present Create your own Wildlife Sanctuary: Landscaping for Diversity and Climate Resilience. We can each create sustainable landscapes in our own gardens using native plants in partnership with sustainable growing practices. We will discuss the benefits of creating beautiful, diverse landscapes that enhance our local ecosystems and help mitigate the impacts of climate change and also draw native insects and birds to Weston.

Our presenter is the Senior Naturalist, Ecological Management and Adult Program coordinator at Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, where she has worked for the past 25 years. She is involved in all aspects of the sanctuary’s educational programming and is currently developing an ecological stewardship plan for the sanctuary. Prior to working at Drumlin Farm, she was a high school science teacher and a fabric artist. Tia grew up on a dairy farm in Connecticut and working at Drumlin Farm has been her dream job combining her roots in farming and her love of science and teaching.
