If you see helicopters flying overhead, this might be why.
WESTON, MA β The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will conduct aerial spraying of the biological larvicide Bti to control mosquito larvae over large wetland areas in Weston. Application will be between April 29th and 30th.
Wetlands currently being evaluated for this application are located between Wellesley Street, Winter Street, and the Massachusetts Turnpike; adjacent to Nonesuch Pond and areas within the Town Forest by Concord Road. If you see helicopters over head, don't panic, residents don't have to take any special precautions.
Bti is a natural bacterium found in soil, according to the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project. The EPA classifies it as a relatively non-toxic pesticide, and it solely affects mosquito larvae and a few related aquatic insects in the fly family.
