National Preparedness Month Tip 2!

Make a plan with your family

With Dorian’s impacts in the news, kids may be wondering whether that sort of devastation could happen here. Planning can be reassuring and preparing your family for an emergency can start as simply as having a conversation over dinner. Consider the following:

  • How will we receive emergency alerts and warnings?
  • What is our shelter plan?
  • What is our evacuation route?
  • What is our family/household communication plan?
  • Are there any specific needs in our household we should incorporate?

Get started today: www.ready.gov/plan. It’s important to include kids in the disaster planning process. To be β€œPrepared, Not Scared,” review your family emergency plan together so that they know what to do even if you are not together: ready.gov/kids.
