New 'Pottermore' Story Set in Massachusetts

The tale, set in the Harry Potter universe, details the founding of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on Mount Greylock.

On Tuesday, J.K. Rowling published a new story set in the Harry Potter universe's version of Massachusetts.

No, we won't be seeing Harry take in a Sox game or skirt the 4th of July Cape traffic on his broomstick.

Rowling's newest tale instead takes readers back to the founding of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the peak of Mount Greylock in the Berkshires.

Founded by Isolt Sayre - an Irish witch at odds with the Puritans on the Mayflower - and several misfits she picks up during her journey into the Berkshires, the school was a focus of Rowling's four-part series "History of Magic in North America."

Rowling published the short story on her website, pottermore.com, where she has frequently delved deeper into the Potter universe since concluding the series in 2007.
