Regis Appoints Dean of Nursing

Regis Appoints Diane Welsh of Weston as new Dean of Nursing

Regis, a leading Catholic university in Greater Boston, is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Welsh, DNP, RN, CNE, as dean of the School of Nursing.

For the past ten years Diane has served in many roles at Regis including nursing faculty, course coordinator, program director, associate dean of nursing and most recently, interim dean of nursing. She has contributed to Regis in myriad ways with the development of the Part Time BS and Accelerated BS nursing programs, the preceptor program for final semester nursing students and the Dedicated Education Unit at the West Roxbury Veterans Affairs Hospital.

β€œIt’s such an exciting and dynamic time to shape the education of our students and prepare them to become future leaders in nursing,” said Welsh. β€œAt Regis that means a global approach and a commitment to improving healthcare around the world.”

Diane has written numerous articles and publications including a chapter in Edelman’s textbook Health Promotion, made presentations across the country including a webinar on nursing core competencies and received the Nurse in Washington Internship Program Traineeship in Advocacy and QSEN Faculty Trainer awards.

She is a member of many local and national associations including the Department of Higher Education Nurse of the Future Committee (currently serving as co-chair), Massachusetts Action Coalition, Massachusetts Organization of Nurse Executives, Society of Pediatric Nurses National Health Policy Committee, Massachusetts National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the Massasoit Community College Advisory Board. She is currently an accreditor and site visitor for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Diane earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Boston University, her Master of Science at Boston College and DNP at Regis. Prior to Regis, Diane was an occupational health specialist at Health Resources in Natick, a school nurse in the Milford Public School system and a nurse administrator at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Mass General Hospital.

Diane lives in Weston with her husband, John, and is the mother of three adult children and four grandchildren.
