Regis Men's and Women's Basketball teams headed to NCAA Division III Tournament

Both Regis Men's and Women's basketball teams won NECC championships and are heading to the first round NCAA Division III Tournament

The Regis men’s basketball team, fresh off their first New England Collegiate Conference Championship, will travel to Dickinson College for an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Friday night at 8:00 p.m.

The Pride sits at 19-8 overall this season after winning the NECC Championship, 74-72, over top-seeded Southern Vermont College on Saturday afternoon. The Pride has won 10 of their last 11 games headed into the NCAA Tournament and had two players named to the NECC All-Conference Teams: sophomore forward Sam Jean-Gilles and junior guard Jeff Tagger, Jr.

The winner of Friday night’s game will take on the winner of the other first round game, Albertus Magnus College and Springfield College, on Saturday night.

For the third straight NCAA Tournament, the Regis women’s basketball team will travel to Montclair State University for an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Friday night. The winner of Friday night’s game will take on the winner of Stevenson and Williams who will face off in the other First Round matchup hosted by Montclair State.

The Pride sits at 22-5 overall after winning their third consecutive NECC Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Pride enters the NCAA Tournament having won 18 of their last 20 games, including nine-straight to end the season.

Freshman Brittany Stone has been named NECC’s Rookie of the Year and Head Women’s Coach Angela Santa Fe was named the NECC Coach of the Year for the second-straight season.
