Regis Opera Performance Will Air on Weston Media Channel

The Regis Chamber and Glee Singers’ performance of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Regis Patricia Teehan Sullivan Studio Theatre will air on Weston Media Cable TV from April 14th through May 4th.

Regis singers transformed Dido and Aeneas, a 17th century melodramatic Baroque opera, into a modern day musical performance complete with goths, jocks and texts.

“I was so impressed with the dramatic inclinations of our Chamber Singers that we decided to add an additional performance to our annual spring concert,” said Heather Josselyn-Cranson, associate professor of Music at Regis. “Dido and Aeneas suits Regis perfectly with six female and two male voices and the students immediately seized the opportunity to make the opera their own by creating the stage, props, characters and costumes.”

Cast members include Kimberly Graham ’20, Marisa Eddlem ’17, Kenia Pierssaint ’20, John Lewis ’18, Blessing Ajaero ’17, Kira Tsen ’18, Samantha Dupuis ’20, and Nicholas Antonellis ’20. The Glee Singers perform the chorus.

The performance can be watched on Weston Media on Comcast XFINITY Channel 9 and Verizon FiOS Channel 45 at 9am, 12pm, and 9pm on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and at 11am, 5pm, and 11pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting Friday, April 14th through Thursday, May 4th.
