Did you know that within your community there are newcomers who are eager to learn English? By giving a few hours each week, you can improve someoneβs life and give new depth to your own. This fall, ESOL (English as a Second or Other Language) tutor trainer Nancy Moorhouse will host a feww tutor training course here at the Weston Library. After completing the course, you will be paired with a learner. The committment for tutor and learner is 60-90 minutes per week for 6 months. The classes will meet in the libraryβs Community Room (Conference Room 10/9) four consecutive Thursdays evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM on the following dates: September 25, October 2, 9, 16. Nancy Moorhouse is certified as an ESOL tutor by Literacy Unlimited of MA, and continues to work as a tutor for the Framingham/Natick public libraries. She conducts tutor training classes, works with conversation classes and continues to tutor a student who just became a U.S. citizen. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Is there something that youβd like to learn to knit? Join Iris on Thursday evenings this fall. Instruction is free. ALL skill levels are welcome including beginners. The group will meet in the libraryβs Conference Room. Please register at the Reference Desk or call 781-786-6165.
