Vote NO on Ballot Question No. 1
May 4 Town Election: Last chance for voters to stop the Town Center "Improvement" Project
Many Weston voters, who do not keep up with local news, still have no clue that Weston Center as we know it is about to be destroyed and then totally reconfigured. The Town Center Improvement Plan was approved at the 3-18-19 town meeting. It will start in June and take 2 years.
Ten days after we voted we learned that serious public safety problems were not disclosed to the voters. We learned that Fire Chief Soar was not allowed by selectman Harvey Boshart to address these issues at town meeting, as a Fin Com member requested. Watch the last 20 minutes of the 3-28-19 Fin Com meeting on westonmedia.org for yourself.
And our neighbors along Boston Post Road have just received demand letters from the Town requiring that they provide three year temporary construction easements to bury the overhead wires under their property, as well as permanent easements to access the wires, AND a waiver of all rights to an appraisal and to damages for the taking. They are being asked to donate their property interests for $1 and consent to the taking by May 15, or else the Town will take these easements by eminent domain. Ask any property owner in Town Center, business or residential.

But voters at the 3-18-19 Special Town Meeting knew nothing of any of this until after they had already voted.
That's why it's so important to weigh in at the Town Election on Sat. May 4. Absentee voting has started already at Town Hall. Please vote NO on Ballot Question 1, which is the Prop 2 1/2 override for this and 5 other projects.

As Brad Meslin states in this week's Town Crier, Weston has plenty of cash reserves to fund these 5 projects, if Ballot Question No. 1 is voted down, as it should be.
