Weston Snow Removal: Rules, Policies To Remember

In the wake of the first real snowfall of the season, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind this winter.

WESTON, MA – In the wake of the first real snowfall of the season, Weston residents should keep in mind the town's policies regarding snow removal. Weston has a by-law that addresses the issue of private contractors plowing snow from driveways into the public way, which causes unsafe road conditions that must be corrected by the Department of Public Works.

The by-law will be strictly enforced and tickets will be issued to the snow removal contractor and may also be sent to the property owner, as well.

Under the same law, interference with the town's snow removal process is prohibited; the owner of any vehicle interfering will be liable for the additional costs incurred by the DPW.

Violation tickets will be issued to the snow removal contractor and/or the property owner under the non-criminal disposition by-law.

Residents are also asked to keep nearby catch basins clear of snow or ice to prevent street flooding during heavy rains or snow melting periods and shovel out nearby fire hydrants.
