Weston Starts Developing Community Choice Aggregation Program

An energy aggregation plan for the community includes several options for energy mixes.

WESTON, MA β€” Weston is developing a Community Choice Aggregation program, called Weston Power Choice. An energy aggregation plan for the community includes several options for energy mixes, with defined percentages produced from renewable sources (e.g., wind, solar). These options can be formulated based on resident feedback, and effectively provide choice as well as fiscal control in the form of stable, predictable rates to individual residents, typically including one option that closely resembles the current energy mix and pricing.

Weston Power Choice will allow the town to purchase electricity supply in bulk for Weston residents and small businesses that are enrolled in Eversource’s Basic Service. These residents and businesses will be automatically enrolled in the program. Residents who have contracted their own electricity supply independently will not be automatically enrolled but are welcome to join Weston Power Choice at any time.

The town is looking for community input to develop the energy sources and percentages. If you were unable to attend the June 11th public information session, it is available online courtesy of Weston Media Center. It is a 30-minute introduction to the program. Additional information on CCA and Weston Power Choice can also be found at Weston.org/WestonPowerChoice.
