Boston Firefighter Arrested For Child Rape Received CPR In Jail

The Boston firefighter accused of raping a child multiple times was found in medical distress in his cell, the Sheriff's office told Patch.

WEST ROXBURY, MA — The Boston firefighter arrested this week on child rape charges was taken to the hospital, after some sort of medical emergency at the jail where he was being held, according to reports.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office said an officer patrolling the jail block at 2 a.m., found Firefighter Samuel Perez Rosado, 38, of West Roxbury in "medical distress."

Officers performed CPR on Perez Rosado and Emergency Medical Services took him to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

"At approximately 2:00am, Wednesday morning on May 16th, an officer at the Suffolk County Jail making his rounds discovered detainee Samuel Perez in medical distress. Officers immediately began performing CPR and Emergency Medical Services were activated. Mr. Perez was subsequently transported by EMS into emergency medical care," Peter Van Delft, spokesperson for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department said in an emailed statement to Patch.

Van Delft did not comment further on what condition Perez Rosado was in when he was taken to the hospital or how long officers performed CPR on him.

Perez Rosado, was arrested Friday by Boston Police and arraigned on May 14 in South Boston Municipal Court.

Perez Rosado was charged on one count each of rape of a child and assault and battery in connection with alleged abuse, over a period of years, of a child known to him.

Perez Rosado on $50,000 cash bail and ordered him to stay away from the victim, stay away from any witnesses, surrender his passport, and surrender any firearms he may own.

Police said they were still investigating, according to the DA's office.
