Boston Police Officer Arraigned In OUI Crash

A 20-year-old suffered serious injuries from the New Year's Day crash.

BOSTON, MA — A Boston Police officer was arraigned Friday on a felony charge he drove drunk into another vehicle, badly injuring one of the occupants. Domenic Columbo, 39, of West Roxbury, faces a charge of causing serious bodily injury while operating under the influence for the New Year's Day crash, Suffolk County DA Daniel Conley.

Columbo was driving his personal vehicle, a 2012 Ford F150, when he allegedly struck a Honda Accord occupied by two 20-year-olds at the intersection of Columbia Road and Ceylon Street in the early hours after the ball had dropped. The passenger of the Accord was seriously injured. He and Columbo were hospitalized.

Columbo's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, and it was determined by investigators that he was going faster than the 25 mile-per-hour speed limit.
