Mice-Infested Stop & Shop Reopens in Roxbury
The supermarket was closed Monday after dead rodents and droppings were found in various corners of the store.

WEST ROXBURY, MA - A Roxbury Stop & Shop that was closed by the city Monday after a mice infestation was unearthed is opening its doors once again.
Two days after inspectors found dead mice in the stockroom, bake shop and the area surrounding the outdoor compactor, along with a dead rat and mouse droppings, the supermarket officially reopened to customers.
At a meeting last night residents in Roxbury expressed disgust and concern over the closure, wondering what alternatives they had to doing their grocery shopping at the store and whether or not its food would be safe to eat going forward, the Boston Globe reported.

According to WCVB, this is the second time this year evidence of rodents have been found in the Stop & Shop. The network reported that in January an inspector with Ecolab, which handles pest control for the company, found live and dead rodents in the supermarket.
But two days later, a follow-up report indicated there was no longer evidence of an infestation.

Though it has reopened for the time being the store will face further scrutiny from health inspectors, who will start paying unscheduled visits to the Stop & Shop in the future, WCVB reported.
