Michael Jugenheimer Joins Deutsches Altenheim Foundation
Deutsches Altenheim Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Jugenheimer as its Executive Director of Development.

Deutsches Altenheim Foundation has appointed Michael Jugenheimer Executive Director Development to lead its fundraising and development activities for the Foundation in support of the Deutsches Altenheim senior care campus. Michael Jugenheimer joins the Foundation from the Boston Athenæum where he led major gifts development. His broad career in client-facing non-profit development roles provides the experience needed to organize and develop the fund raising efforts of the Foundation.
Deutsches Altenheim Foundation was organized to raise and manage financial support for Deutsches Altenheim, Inc.—a 133-bed German Centre for long- and short-term skilled nursing, 62-apartment Edelweiss Village assisted living residence, and Senior Place adult day program – located at its campus in West Roxbury. Established in 1914, Deutsches Altenheim expanded, adapted and flourished over time, maintains a consistent 5-Star rating, continues to provide superior long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, memory care, assisted living, and adult day health services to residents and clients in a trusting and experienced environment.
To enable Deutsches Altenheim to evolve into the type of entity future residents will require and continue to choose, the Foundation conducted a strategic review and identified the need for designing and executing a new outreach program led by an executive director of development. “We began our search last year and are pleased we found Michael Jugenheimer” says John Carberry, President of the Foundation. “He has stellar experience as a major gift fund raiser for academic and significant non-profit organizations and has offered his skills and experience to us at a crucial period to build a development program for Deutsches Altenheim’s future.”

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as the Foundation’s Executive Director of Development and I am looking forward to working with the talented team at Deutsches Altenheim” said Jugenheimer. “Now, more than ever, we must ensure that our seniors and those in need have access to healthcare services in safe settings that foster dignity and independence and promote and preserve the cultural traditions that enrich our lives. I am excited to help advance these goals at Deutsches Altenheim.”
The creation of this new position follows an especially trying year for senior care communities, broadly. “The effects of COVID-19 on healthcare facilities across the country are a poignant reminder of the important work we do on campus here,” says Michael Lincoln, Executive Director of German Centre. “I look forward to partnering with Jugenheimer as our team continues to provide unparalleled healthcare."
