New England Suits Up for Boston Comic Con

The gaming and comic book convention is in Beantown from Aug. 8 to 10.

Fans of Doctor Who and Game of Thrones will have a field day, or field days, this weekend. Boston Comic Con is taking place at the Seaport Boston Hotel & World Trade Center from Friday, Aug. 8 to Aug. 10.

John Barrowman and Jason Momoa are the stars from the above programs that will be at the convention. Other appearances will include Lord of the Rings’ Sean Astin, and Jewel Staite of Firefly and Serenity fame.

Events will begin on Friday afternoon and end at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Friday’s festivities will consist of a cartooning workshop for kids as well as a cosplay class taught by Ivy Doomkitty, an icon of the role-playing pastime. Press Your Luck, a comic book trivia game show, is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and the annual BCC Comic Art Auction will take place at 2 p.m. the following day.

There will be a film festival during the entire weekend, gaming tournaments and the BCC Costume Contest near the end of the convention, for the second year in a row.

A standard ticket for Friday is $20, while Saturday is $30 and Sunday is $25.
