Roxbury Native Cast as Deval Patrick in Marathon Bombing Movie
Michael Beach will portray the former governor in the upcoming Mark Wahlberg film "Patriots Day."

WEST ROXBURY, MA - Michael Beach will play former Governor Deval Patrick in "Patriots Day," an upcoming film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings.
Beach, who grew up in Roxbury, is the second actor cast with ties to Boston after Dorchester native Wahlberg. He has enjoyed a successful stage and TV career, known primarily for his roles as Monte "Doc" Parker on "Third Watch" and T.O. Cross on "Sons of Anarchy."
Beach joins a star-studded cast that includes Wahlberg, who portrays a composite character based on several Boston police officers, John Goodman as former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, J.K. Simmons as Watertown Police Sgt. Jeffrey Pugliese and Kevin Bacon as FBI special agent Richard DesLauriers.

The film, about the 2013 attack and subsequent manhunt for Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, will premiere in Boston, New York and Los Angeles Dec. 21 before receiving a wide release Jan. 11.
Production of the movie has begun in Boston, and on Friday film crews were spotted in Woburn.
