WEST ROXBURY, MA — The West Roxbury Community thanks its veterans for their service Friday with events around the neighborhood.
Thank you to our servicemen and women, and thank you to our local businesses and community groups for helping to honor them.

On Friday, November 11, Deutsches Altenheim will host a Veterans Day observance to honor the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces. The ceremony will commence in the German Centre lobby at 10:00 a.m. with guest speakers. Immediately following, we will induct the newest members of Deutsches Altenheim’s Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor is a pictorial and narrative exhibit of members of the Deutsches Altenheim community who served in the US Armed Forces. Read more.

West on Centre is serving up a free lunch entree or special to veterans and active-duty service members:

Bring your torn and tattered flags to the Gardens Cemetery Office, 670 Baker St. Local Boy Scouts will retire the flags on Saturday. According to The Gardens at Gethsemane, thousands of flags will be retired during the course of the day, but during the ceremonial portion, a select group of flags will be retired by the Boy Scouts on the flag poles at The Garden of Honor Veterans Section.
